VirtualBox
Hmm... Free... Useful... And fun... AM I DREAMING?!?!? Nah, VirtualBox is just a great tool. It's so easy to use that I find myself wanting to stay at my PC all day. Great stuff.
Linux: ARGH!
I just installed Ubuntu, and was trying to install Visual Basic 6 (don't ask why, I just don't think it works well under Vista, okay?) when all of a sudden, WINE doesn't want to open it. I later found out that you're supposed to actually enable the "open as executable" preference (or whatever it is). I don't know about the rest of you, but I absolutely HATE having to copy an entire CD to my hard drive and then delete it afterward. Talk about a pain. I did, however, get the installation to start, and it's at 50% right now. I swear, though, if I EVER have to go through that again, I'll... Get Windows XP... Or something... Whatever. Worse has happened, and I'm only a novice programmer. Which begs the question: why in the world am I using Linux? Well, I'm guilty of the "free" aspect of it. It's an awesome Operating System that doesn't cost me a penny (save time); what is any better than that? Well, okay, a Mac, but this is the next best thing. Bottom line, check out the new Distro; you'll enjoy your time with it.
